ph-septima-pendant-lamp
PH Septima Pendant Lamp

Poul Henningsen first showed the PH Septima as a prototype at the Danish Museum of Decorative Art, today Designmuseum Danmark, in 1928. It extends his three-shade system with four additional shades, seven in total. Production stopped in the 1940s amid raw material shortages. Louis Poulsen reintroduced the lamp in 2020, based on the original PH Septima 5, with an improved suspension and stronger glass.

The shades are Italian borosilicate glass, treated so that clear and sandblasted fields alternate. Each frosted field covers a clear one beneath it, which softens the light further while keeping it glare-free and directed downwards. The struts are brass-metallised steel; socket housing and canopy are untreated satin-polished brass that develops a patina over time.

Henningsen's drawings for a metal version, never produced, later led to the PH Artichoke. At Ø 50 cm the Septima suits a dining table or a living room. It takes one E27 bulb, not included.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0617/9785/9493/files/louis-poulsen-ph-septima-pendant-lamp-29729.jpg?v=1790898734
