    About Pierre Paulin

The French designer Pierre Paulin, born in Paris in 1927, became known through his long-standing collaboration with Artifort. His iconic works, including the Mushroom Chair (1959), Ribbon Chair (1966) and the Tongue Chair (1968), are known worldwide. He was also commissioned to decorate President George Pompidou's living quarters at the Palais de L'Elysee (1970) and Francois Mitterand's office (1983). Paulin's work was influenced by German roots and early modernists, as well as American designers Charles & Ray Eames. His pieces are part of permanent exhibitions in renowned institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Musée des Arts Decoratifs and the Center George Pompidou in Paris, the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne and the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna. Pierre Paulin died in Montpelier, France, in 2009.
