Jaeho Lee & Undress House: redefining aesthetic home furnishings

von @industrialkonzept Team

In the world of art and design, there are people who have the unique ability to transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. Jaeho Lee, the creative mind behind Undress House, is undoubtedly one of them. With a fashion past and an innate passion for aesthetics, Lee has ventured into the world of home accessories, creating pieces that redefine spaces and add a touch of timeless elegance.

Lee's journey into the world of design began with a childhood filled with creativity. Raised by a mother who was deeply rooted in the arts, his home was a canvas adorned with her own paintings, antique furniture and Christian artifacts. Surrounded by these visual treasures, he developed an innate love for all things aesthetically pleasing. This early exposure to art and design laid the foundation for his future endeavors.

Although his original path led him to enroll in a university for electrical engineering, Lee soon realized that his true calling lay elsewhere - in the world of fashion. Luckily, some friends opened a second-hand store and brand, which gave him the perfect opportunity to explore his newfound passion. Over the years, his experiences in the fashion industry brought him into contact with a variety of archive pieces, furthering his innate sense of style and design.

Lee's fascination with silver and steel jewelry and various objets d'art grew steadily. He began to see home accessories as a means of decorating spaces, much like clothing adorns a person. This realization formed the basis for what would eventually become Undress House.

Undress House, with its enigmatic name, symbolizes Lee's desire to not be confined to a specific definition within the spaces he creates. Instead, it is a canvas for his creativity to wander freely and unhindered. It is a place where aesthetics are married with functionality to create pieces that go beyond simple objects - they become art.

At Undress House, Lee brings his sensibility and experience to designing new forms of objects that redefine our understanding of home accessories. His vision revolves around modernizing antiques and harmonizing different materials, resulting in visual ventures that push the boundaries of convention. Each piece is a testament to his dedication to creating beauty and functionality never seen before.

In a world where design often follows established norms, Jaeho Lee and Undress House are a testament to the power of creativity, vision and pursuit of aesthetic excellence. Lee's journey from electrical engineering to fashion and eventually home accessories serves as an inspiring reminder that true passion knows no boundaries. As he continues to explore the uncharted territories of design, we can only look forward to even more captivating creations from Undress House, where art and functionality merge exquisitely.

Jaeho Lee and his object "Flur Low Table" have been nominated for the industrial ART DESIGN AWARD 2023.
