icon Supported by 300,000+ design enthusiasts & professionals

First introduced in 1966, Mario Bellini’s Amanta Sofa remains an icon of mid-century Italian design. Reissued by HAY, the modular system is defined by its low, sculptural silhouette and flexible configuration, with units that work alone or connect seamlessly. Crafted with architectural precision, the shell is made from at least 99% recycled ABS, paired with biomass-balanced foam cushions for comfort and sustainability. Designed for disassembly and available in a range of colours, fabrics, and leathers, Amanta adapts effortlessly to domestic and public settings.

Each unit can stand alone or lock seamlessly with others, so creating a 2-, 3-, or larger seater is simply a matter of ordering and combining modules. Every piece comes with the mechanism needed to connect.

Mario Bellini (b. 1935) is one of Italy’s most influential architects and designers, known for a multidisciplinary approach that merges form and function. A recipient of eight Compasso d’Oro awards, former editor of Domus, and subject of a Milan Triennale retrospective, his work is held in major museum collections worldwide — including MoMA, where the Amanta Sofa is part of the permanent collection.
