Gufram has made furniture from soft polyurethane in Piedmont since 1966, and from the late 1960s it turned the material into objects that look like something else: a pair of lips in Bocca by Studio 65 (1970), a patch of grass in Pratone by Giorgio Ceretti, Pietro Derossi and Riccardo Rosso (1971), a coat stand shaped like a cactus by Guido Drocco and Franco Mello (1972), and stones in Sassi by Piero Gilardi (1968). These pieces belong to Italian Radical Design and are held in the collections of MoMA in New York, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Vitra Design Museum.

Every piece is finished by hand with Guflac®, the elastic lacquer Gufram developed for its foam, so small differences from one piece to the next are part of the work. Alongside the classics, Gufram works with artists and studios such as TOILETPAPER, Snarkitecture, Studio Job and Ross Lovegrove, and the Guframini series reproduces the best-known designs at a scale of 1:8.
