Bocca Pink Lady Sofa

Pink Lady is Studio 65's Bocca in a vivid pink. The lip-shaped sofa dates from 1970 and draws on Salvador Dalí's 1935 portrait of Mae West; in 2008 Gufram issued this pink edition, limited to 500 pieces, which brings the Pop Art side of the design to the fore.

The body is soft polyurethane under a removable fabric cover, 212 cm wide and 85 cm high. The lips are very slightly asymmetrical, a detail that keeps the form from looking mechanical. Each sofa is upholstered by hand, so small differences between pieces are part of the work.

Bocca has been shown in "Surrealism and Design" at the Vitra Design Museum and in "Pop Art Design" at the Barbican Centre in London. Bocca belongs to the permanent collections of the Fondation Louis Vuitton and the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Design Museum in London. The original red edition is Bocca, the black one Dark Lady.
