The FDC1 armchair is an exclusive and rare piece of furniture designed by artist Flavio de Carvalho in the 1950s. This sculptural tribal lounge chair is one of the designer's masterpieces, acclaimed by Le Corbusier as the work of a "romantic revolutionary."

Flávio de Carvalho, a man of many skills, approached design and architecture in innovative and provocative ways. His concepts were driven by imagination and responded to new ways of living and thinking. Recognized today as one of the precursors of Brazilian modern architecture, de Carvalho believed that interior design was just as important as architecture.

In his most notable project, the Capuava Ranch (1939), de Carvalho designed much of the furniture, including the iconic FDC1 armchair. Created in the 1950s, the chair's bold shape impresses with its graphic and sculptural elements, evoking tribal masks and avant-garde expressions. This extraordinary piece was revolutionary at the time and remains strikingly modern.
