“We are inspired by excellence, and we don’t think there’s enough of it in the world, especially in the current political and cultural climate.”
— Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross / Nine Inch Nails
032c Issue #48 features a dossier that functions as the unofficial Peel It Back tour book. Cassidy George speaks with NINE INCH NAILS members TRENT REZNOR and ATTICUS ROSS, as well as creative director TODD TOURSO, and traces the band’s history through the tour setlist. The feature serves as both documentation and archive, examining the lasting influence of Nine Inch Nails’ work.
In Sacramento, photographer Jack Bridgland and creative director Tal Midyan document DEFTONES and their fan community in a story featuring interviews with all five band members, focusing on longevity and cultural impact. In Blackpool, musician and choreographer BLACKHAINE is portrayed by Nadine Fraczowski and Celestine Cooney, with an accompanying interview by Claire Koron Elat.
Further features include a reconstruction of JIL SANDER’s maximalist villa through a 1998 BRUCE WEBER shoot with text by Hamish Bowles and an introduction by Ingeborg Harms. Sven Michaelsen visits artist GOTTFRIED HELWEIN at his Irish castle, photographed by Jackie Nickerson. NATASHA POLY appears in a shoot by Hendrik Schneider and Gadir Rajab at the “Goldraum 1” exhibition at 032c Gallery. MARIA KLAUMANN is photographed in Paris by Raphael Bliss, Juan Corrales, and Claire Koron Elat. Additional contributions include a visit to NIKE headquarters in Beaverton by marathon runner Gabriel Proedl, a text by Ryan Ruby on MELVYN BRAGG’s In Our Time, and a conversation between Rahim Attarzadeh and COURRÈGES’ NICOLAS DI FELICE.
The X-Files section highlights contributors and cultural figures within the 032c universe. The issue concludes with the BERLIN REVIEW, featuring a selection of books for the season.
