Japanese Interiors

Japanese Interiors looks at private homes across Japan and at how residential interior design in the country continues to evolve. Writing about her own country, author Mihoko Iida follows a constant thread, the integration of the natural landscape into the home, and traces the influences that have shaped Japanese interiors over time.

The book presents 28 residences, from city apartments to retreats in the mountains and by the sea, and from minimalist homes and combined living and working spaces to traditional historic dwellings. Several were designed by leading Japanese architects, including Kengo Kuma, nendo, Koji Fujii, Arata Endo and Takamitsu Azuma. The hardback runs to 256 pages, with contributions by Danielle Demetriou.
