The architect John Pawson is known for a pared-back approach to space. This volume, the latest in Phaidon's documentation of his work, looks at how he designs homes, following Minimum of 1996, which explored simplicity in architecture, art and design. Six chapters follow the uses of a modern home: living, cooking, eating, bathing, sleeping and working.
Each chapter shows Pawson's work from the 1980s to today alongside precedents such as Donald Judd's home in Marfa, Le Thoronet Abbey and the Farnsworth House. Deyan Sudjic, director emeritus of the Design Museum in London, provides a commentary, and Pawson writes six texts. Hardback, 270 by 205 mm, 344 pages.
