Look Good, Feel Good, Play Good is presented as the first visual history of women's sportswear, told through the role Nike has played in it over the past 50 years. It is about the garments women wear for sport and why they wear them, from elite athletes to amateurs, on the track, in the fitness studio, online and in the street.
Written by Maisie Skidmore, the book is structured around five design archetypes: warm-ups, jerseys, leggings, sports bras and shorts. Material from Nike's archive includes trade catalogues from the early 1980s, sketches, advertisements, fabric swatches, colour palettes, design proposals and patents, alongside period and contemporary photography. Each chapter has interviews with athletes such as Naomi Osaka, Megan Rapinoe and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and essays by writers including Michelle Millar Fisher. Hardback, 352 pages, 575 images.
