Since the 1950s Vitra has worked with successive generations of designers, from Charles and Ray Eames to Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Jasper Morrison and Virgil Abloh. Deyan Sudjic tells the story of the three generations behind the company and of its influence on architecture, graphics, photography and product design, including its role in shaping the reception of Jean Prouvé and Verner Panton and in keeping the archives of Luis Barragán and Alexander Girard.
The hardback, 270 by 215 mm with 410 pages and over 400 illustrations, also covers the Vitra Campus with buildings by Tadao Ando, Herzog & de Meuron and Álvaro Siza. Inserts are written by design writer Karen Stein, and Iwan Baan contributes a photographic essay.
