Sommerfugl - Chair

Sommerfugl is a series of old school chairs that NIKO JUNE takes out of classrooms and reworks in its Copenhagen workshop. The intervention is deliberately small: a little is removed, parts are reassembled, and the posture and balance of the chair shift.

Traces of use are kept on purpose, from scratched legs and chewed edges to crooked screws, so every chair is unique. The name is Danish for butterfly, a reference to the reshaping of something once rigid.
