The TH400 is the most technically advanced model in Thuono’s TH series. It features a 400 mm platter and rotation system constructed from aluminium and Nero Marquinia marble, supported by high-precision magnetic suspensions.

The mass and scale of the system allow for high inertial torque, contributing to stable rotational dynamics and low mechanical noise. This configuration supports a wide soundstage, accurate detail retrieval, and consistent energy across the frequency spectrum. Tonearm and clamp are included.

Designed and assembled in Italy, Thuono turntables are the result of long-term research into mechanical isolation, material behavior, and the conditions necessary for precise analog playback.

    Technical Overview

    Isolation & Suspension
To minimize vibrational interference, the TH400 employs three magnetic suspensions that decouple the upper chassis from external disturbances. Each suspension uses opposing magnetic rings and a self-lubricating, low-friction bushing, eliminating mechanical contact and ensuring long-term stability. Additional oversized decoupling discs under the chassis enhance isolation across the system.

    Platter & Bearing System
The 400 mm aluminium platter offers high inertial torque, minimizing speed fluctuations and enhancing dynamic control. A damping antistatic layer reduces resonance and improves tonal clarity. The polished spindle runs on a hardened steel sphere with ultra-low surface roughness, minimizing friction and ensuring long-term rotational precision.

    Drive System
A dampened flywheel, the largest in the TH series (160 mm), stabilizes rotation and absorbs motor-borne vibrations. The DC motor is mounted in a flexible, vibration-damping cradle within a solid Nero Marquinia marble block. Speed regulation is handled by a Hall sensor and microprocessor, maintaining constant 33.33 or 45 RPM rotation with real-time feedback.

    Chassis & Structural Integrity
Built from Nero Marquinia marble and aluminium, the chassis provides mass and rigidity. Key components—platter bearing, flywheel, tonearm mount—are structurally isolated to minimize resonance and improve transient response, producing an expansive, focused soundstage.

    Clamp System
The included Thuono clamp (bronze and aluminium, with internal damping) ensures tight record contact, reduces resonances, and mitigates static. An embedded magnetic disc further enhances signal clarity and tonal balance during playback.
