Brutalist design is a style of heavy, geometric forms and raw, unconcealed materials. The term comes from the French béton brut, raw concrete, and from post-war architecture of the 1950s to 1970s, when buildings showed their structure openly. In furniture and objects it means solid volumes, thick profiles, visible joints and surfaces left as they come from the mould or the mill.

This page gathers candle holders and objects from STOFF Nagel, steel and stone pieces from Frama, sculptural bowls and trays from Fundamental Berlin, podiums, tables and lamps from NM3, and side tables and stools from Serax, alongside work from Service Projects, MOEBE and Kristina Dam Studio. Typical materials are concrete, cast and folded steel, aluminium, stone and dark-stained wood.
