Olivia Chair

Form-pressed oak and rubber wood veneer with solid oak, finished in polyurethane lacquer. A dining chair that balances lightness, sturdiness and comfort.

The moulded plywood keeps it slim yet strong. From the side it reads as a fine line, from the front and back almost as a flat graphic sign. The concave shape also makes room for sitting more casually.

An opening in the backrest lets you lean on your back muscles rather than your spine, so the chair stays comfortable through long dinners. The legs are slightly thicker than the backrest for added strength.

Finnish designer Tatu Laakso developed Olivia during his master's studies at Aalto University, as a response to the more robust furniture of Alvar Aalto that he grew up with. The chair took third prize in the Pure Talents Contest 2021 at imm cologne. "Olivia is well tailored like a nice dress," says Laakso.
