Mono V is the first completely new flatware concept from Mono in over 20 years. In 2020, the manufactory partnered with Berlin-based designer Mark Braun to develop a new collection: resource-efficient, easy to produce, of the highest quality, and made entirely in Mettmann, Germany. After 2.5 years of development, Mono V is here to stay.

The inspiration came from an unexpected place — the disposable fork. Its minimal material use and structural stability through form became the guiding principle. After numerous studies, Braun returned to a single, clever solution: a simple bend.

This bend defines the V-shaped embossing along the handle — not just a visual signature, but a structural one. It gives the flatware strength while allowing the use of a thin 1.5 mm stainless steel sheet. The V tapers gently, creating dynamic light play, a tactile feel, and stackability.

Unlike traditional flatware, Mono V skips the time- and material-intensive rolling process. Each piece is stamped directly from thin stainless steel, then shaped under 120 tons of pressure. The result is a precise, efficient production method. Finishing is done by hand, and the knife blade — made of hardened steel — features a fine saw grind for long-lasting sharpness, slicing even bread and tomatoes with ease.
