In 1956, Arne Jacobsen designed the model AJ Eklipta for the town hall in Rødovre, and indeed in two different sizes, namely with Ø350 and Ø450 diameter. They were used in the stairwells and in the exterior as wall lamps. Later, another version followed with Ø220 diameter for St. Catherine’s College in the United Kingdom. For stairwells, Arne Jacobsen always preferred the largest model. Today, the lamp is used worldwide as an architectural dot on the “i”.
