Helmut Newton's SUMO, first published in 1999, was the first of TASCHEN's very large limited editions. Newton, who lived from 1920 to 2004, became internationally known in the 1970s through his work for the international editions of Vogue, where his staged scenarios attracted both attention and controversy.
Twenty years on, this XL edition presents the project as conceived by Newton and revised by his wife June Newton. It contains 394 images and a booklet on how the original SUMO was made. The text is by Matthias Harder, director of the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin. The hardcover with booklet comes in a slipcase, 464 pages in German, English and French.
