PH 1/1 Piano Table Lamp Limited Edition 2026

Poul Henningsen designed the first PH Piano Lamp in the early 1930s, a few years after developing his three-shade System PH. A composer himself, he conceived it as a lamp for pianists: the shades sit at the end of a long, curved stem, and a globe-shaped counterweight at the back keeps the lamp balanced. Over the years it appeared in several materials before it was discontinued and became a sought-after auction piece.

For 2026, Louis Poulsen reissues the design as a limited edition with PH 1/1 shades in four-layered, mouth-blown glass in dusty terracotta, glossy on the outside and sandblasted on the inside. Stem, base and top plate are aged brass, brushed and lacquered. A swivel joint tilts the lamp 45° backwards and 25° forwards, so it works on a piano as well as on a desk, bedside table or windowsill. The three shades give soft, glare-free light; Henningsen's initials are engraved on the switch housing.
