Poul Henningsen designed the three-part lampshade back in 1925/26, and the first models, created with the help of Louis Poulsen, were exhibited at a show in Paris. This collaboration lasted until P. Henningsen's death in 1967. Throughout his life, Poul Henningsen was committed to creating lamps with glare-free light that cast soft shadows and direct the light cone to the right place. The PH 2/1 pendant lamp is one of 30 models in the series with a three-part shade, three of which are outdoor lamps. Poul Henningsen was not only concerned with designing a lamp, but an entire system, which over the years resulted in around a thousand models. The large range consists of table, floor, and wall lamps, as well as numerous chandeliers, which became increasingly popular in the 1930s as high-hanging lighting for homes. There were countless possible combinations, as the lights were available in a wide variety of sizes and colors.
