The PH 3½–2½ table lamp was designed in 1928. It is one of many projects Poul Henningsen developed alongside his world-famous three-shade lighting system. The lamp follows Henningsen’s original design, including the traditional shade holders with adjustment screws. The upper metal shade features a rolled edge — a distinctive detail that increases durability and makes the shade appear thicker than it actually is.
The two lower shades are made of mouth-blown opal glass. Henningsen believed this combination used the light source more efficiently, reflecting light off the white interior of the top shade and directing it downwards. The stand is made of brown-painted copper, giving it the same appearance as the bronzed brass used in lamps of the time — a process no longer used today due to environmental concerns.
