The PH 4½–3½ Glass Table Lamp is part of Poul Henningsen’s legendary three-shade system, first developed in 1925/26 with Louis Poulsen. Built on Henningsen’s lifelong pursuit of glare-free illumination and soft, balanced shadows, it represents one of the most iconic achievements in Scandinavian lighting design.
Instead of creating single lamps, Henningsen designed a modular lighting system that grew into hundreds of variations — including table, floor, wall, and chandelier models. The use of glass shades allows light to be distributed both downward and outward, filling the room with a warm, even glow.
The numbers in the model name refer to the size of the shade segments: the PH 4½–3½ features a 45 cm top shade paired with two smaller lower shades for perfectly diffused light. Introduced in its modern form in 1990, it remains a timeless design classic.
A refined piece of lighting history — ideal for stylish interiors and lovers of authentic Danish design.
