Poul Henningsen added a four-shade version to his three-shade system in 1931: a lamp to hang high as an alternative to chandeliers, sending more light sideways onto walls and shelves. It left the range in the 1940s. In 1979 the architects Sophus Frandsen and Ebbe Christensen reworked it as the larger PH 6½-6 for the Charlottenborg exhibition building in Copenhagen; the PH 5-4½ followed in 1984 for the Aarhus Concert Hall.
The architects added a small blue anti-glare ring and a more matt white finish for even light. A trumpet-shaped top shade lights the area above, the shades below direct most of the light downwards, and a base reflector shields the source from every angle.
Made for high ceilings, galleries and large dining or living rooms. PH 5-4½ (Ø 46.6 cm) with E27 socket or dim-to-warm LED; PH 6½-6 (Ø 65 cm) with 2700 K LED. LED versions dim by phase dimmer or Bluetooth.

Care
