PH 5 Ø320 Opal Pendant Lamp

The PH 5 320 Opal is a compact reinterpretation of Poul Henningsen's 1958 icon, part of Louis Poulsen's Centenary Collection. At 32 cm in diameter, it fits between the PH 5 Mini and the original PH 5, and comes in four soft, iridescent colors, making it well suited to smaller dining tables or kitchen islands, or hung in pairs above larger surfaces.

The shades are made from injection-molded PMMA acrylic with a glossy exterior and white reflector sides, a new material that lets part of the light spread softly into the room. This changes the character of the lamp slightly compared to the original metal version. The layered shade construction still creates depth, but the opal finish gives the piece a calmer, more atmospheric glow once lit. The carefully placed screens direct light downward while the opal finish creates a soft glow around the lamp itself, balancing functional light with ambient warmth.

The ø320 Opal also uses a new mechanical assembly for the suspension, socket housing, and shade set, which sets it apart from the PH 5 Metal version. The bulb can be replaced through the bottom shade without full disassembly.
