    Originally conceived as a practical evolution of Egon Eiermann’s iconic 1953 design, the Eiermann 2 table frame offers a more accessible approach to the classic Eiermann desk. Developed in the 1960s by the workshop manager at the Karlsruhe Technical University where Eiermann taught, the Eiermann 2 features vertical crossbars placed either centrally or offset towards the back. These options improve legroom and usability, allowing the frame to function comfortably as a desk or dining table. The Eiermann 2 retains the characteristic open steel construction of the original while prioritizing ease of transport, assembly, and everyday practicality. It can be paired with a wide range of tabletops and integrates naturally into home offices, studios, and collaborative workspaces. Despite being less refined in design details than the Eiermann 1, the Eiermann 2 remains a recognized piece of modern furniture history, produced today by Richard Lampert with various finishes and materials.

    Central crossbars allow working from both sides or use as a dining table; offset crossbars are suited for working from one side only with more legroom in front.
