Robert Doisneau photographed Paris and its people with a steady eye for ordinary human moments. This monograph traces his life and work through a broad selection of pictures drawn from his extensive archive.
The selection was compiled by Jean Claude Gautrand (1932 to 2019), a French photographer, historian and critic who was a longtime friend of Doisneau and had unrestricted access to the archive. Gautrand also wrote TASCHEN books on Brassaï and Eugène Atget. The hardcover runs to 504 pages, with text in German, French and English.
