Eero Saarinen shaped both furniture and buildings in the 20th century, combining dynamic forms with a modernist sensibility. His Tulip chairs and tables for Knoll are still produced today, and his TWA terminal at JFK Airport in New York became a landmark of 1960s architecture. His elegant, organic language of form left a mark on an entire era.
This introduction in TASCHEN’s Basic Architecture series is written by Pierluigi Serraino, a practising architect in the San Francisco Bay Area. His earlier books include a study of Eero Saarinen (2005) and a photographic history of modern American architecture through the work of Ezra Stoller. Peter Gössel edited the volume. English edition, hardcover, 96 pages.
