This book opens the shoe collection of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology. It looks at the shoe as empowering, sensual, playful and practical, with designs from labels such as Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahník, Gucci and Roger Vivier.
Hundreds of designs are shown alongside ephemera and sketches. The volume follows Fashion Designers A-Z and was edited and written by Valerie Steele, director and chief curator of The Museum at FIT, and Colleen Hill, its senior curator of costume. Daphne Guinness is co-author, and the illustrations are by Robert Nippoldt. Published in the 45th Edition series, the hardcover has 512 pages in German, English and French.
