Tomoshi is a portable lamp by the Japanese design studio nendo, led by Oki Sato, introduced in 2024. Its name is the Japanese word for light, and the design is built around moving that light freely: a leather strap lets the lamp be hooked up or carried from room to room.
The replaceable LED sits low in the body, close to the base, and casts soft, glare-free light onto the surface below with some ambient light around it. The body is matt painted recycled polymer with soft curves and few details. The light dims steplessly or in steps from 2700 K to a warm 2000 K, a fixed level can be preset, and the battery lasts about 5.5 hours at full output.
At 24.1 cm high, it suits dining tables, bedside tables and shelves. Available in white and dark brown.
