The VL 38 wall lamp is derived from the VL 38 table lamp that Vilhelm Lauritzen designed in the late 1930s with Louis Poulsen for Radiohuset, the Danish broadcasting house in Copenhagen. The lamps appeared in Louis Poulsen's catalogue from the mid-1940s; the white and brass version returned in 2016, followed in 2017 by a black edition with a stronger outline.
A rounded aluminium shade, painted white inside, sits on an arm of brushed, untreated brass that develops a patina over time. The shade tilts to direct the soft, downward light. An integrated 2700 K LED takes the place of the original bulb.
The lamp comes with a 3.3 m cord and plug and suits a bedside, reading chair or desk. A switch on the rear housing offers two light levels and a timer that switches off after 4 or 8 hours. Available in white or black.

Care
| Aluminium | Clean with a soft cloth, lukewarm water and a mild detergent, then dry. Avoid abrasive sponges and acidic or alkaline cleaners. Raw aluminium may darken slightly over time. |
|---|---|
| Brass | Untreated brass develops a natural patina. Dust with a dry cloth; to restore the shine use a brass polish. Lacquered brass only needs a soft, dry cloth. |
