The VL Ring Crown is based on a lamp the architect Vilhelm Lauritzen designed in the 1940s for the Danish Broadcasting House in Copenhagen. The original was never installed there, but a Ring Crown based on his drawings was launched shortly afterwards, and in 1947 Finn Juhl, then working for Lauritzen, used it in the interior of the porcelain manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl in Copenhagen. Louis Poulsen reintroduced it in 2019 in its original materials.
A frame of satin-polished brass carries three, five or seven shades of mouth-blown, three-layered opal glass and hangs from stainless steel wires. The light falls mainly downwards, while the glass gives an even glow around the lamp. The brass is untreated and develops a patina over time.
With 3, 5 or 7 shades it measures 55, 69 or 89.3 cm across, suited above a dining table or in a living room. The single-shade version is available as VL Ring Crown 1 Pendant Lamp.

Care
| Brass | Untreated brass develops a natural patina. Dust with a dry cloth; to restore the shine use a brass polish. Lacquered brass only needs a soft, dry cloth. |
|---|---|
| Glass | Clean with a soft cloth and glass cleaner or water with a drop of detergent. Mouth-blown and coloured glass is best washed by hand. |
