Reno Bonzon designed the Gaivota rocking chair in Brazil in the late 1980s. He found its shape in the snow: after sitting down in deep snow in the French Alps, he looked at the print his body had left and set out to build a seat that follows it.
The chair is made of bent beech plywood, thin strips for seat and back on a frame of curved runners. It won the Museu da Casa Brasileira Prize and the Movesp Prize in 1988 and represented Brazil at the São Paulo Design Biennial in 1990.
In natural beech, stained walnut or stained black.
