Giorgio Ceretti, Pietro Derossi and Riccardo Rosso designed Pratone in 1971: a seat in the form of an oversized patch of grass, with tall, soft blades that bend as you lean back into them. In 1972 it appeared on the cover of the catalogue for "Italy: The New Domestic Landscape" at MoMA in New York. Pratone Infinito, introduced in 2025, is a new edition of the green seat with a Guflac® Prime finish, limited to 500 pieces.
Like the original it is made of soft polyurethane, its blades rising from a square base with the Pratone name pressed into it. At 140 by 140 cm and 95 cm high it is a substantial piece, closer to a small landscape than to an armchair. Every Gufram piece is finished by hand, so small differences between pieces are part of it.
Pratone is represented in the Vitra Design Museum and has been shown at MUDE in Lisbon and the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Montreal. The 1:8 miniature is Guframini Pratone.
