Luigi Bistagnino designed Womb in 1972 and presented it to Gufram at Eurodomus 4, the fair devoted to the furniture and homes of the future; the armchair entered the catalogue a year later. Its starting point was a childhood memory: the unquilted duvet on his grandparents' bed, which puffed up every time he jumped on it.

A soft polyurethane body sits under a loose, gathered upholstery that wraps the sitter on every side, and the rounded form can be approached from any direction. Bistagnino put it plainly: "When you sit down, you don't want to get up." Womb is offered in leather, in Bistre, Sienna or Toffee, or in chenille, in Oil 035, Wine 036, Caramel 037, Olive 025, Chalk 015 or Aqua 028.

The upholstery is cut and sewn by hand, so each piece varies slightly. A wider Womb Sofa, 170 cm across, follows the same design.

    Care

Leather Dust with a soft, dry cloth. Treat with a suitable leather care product once or twice a year. Keep away from direct sunlight and radiators to prevent drying and fading.
Fabric Vacuum regularly with an upholstery nozzle. Dab stains gently with a damp cloth, do not rub. Follow the care label for removable covers.
