Baby-Lonia

With BABY-LONIA, play and design come together in an innovative creation born from the avant-garde minds of Studio 65. Created in the early 1970s under the visionary leadership of Franco Audrito, BABYLONIA was inspired by the educational theories of pedagogist Francesco De Bartolomeis: a piece of design evolves into a playful, versatile and educational object.

Initially used in Italian schools for its light and flexible, child-friendly design, BABY-LONIA has since become an icon of Italian interior design, fitting perfectly into Gufram's vibrant catalog of radical Italian design. The large structure, reminiscent of traditional wooden toys, is made of soft-touch polyurethane foam that invites interaction and play. BABY-LONIA is finished in Guflac®, a special paint patented by Gufram, which helps give it the look and durability of leather without compromising its softness.

BABY-LONIA is more than just a piece of furniture: it is a domestic sculpture that can be deconstructed in various of combinations; a game that appeals to the imagination of children and adults alike. This extraordinary piece has the distinction of being the only playful object included in the collection of the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, a testament to its timeless appeal and influence.
